En Plein Air 2023, starts Mother’s Day, May 14 at Coutts Centre

EN PLEIN AIR ARTISTS: The Coutts Centre and the University of Lethbridge Art Gallery are again collaborating to provide a summer of En Plein Air opportunities. As usual, there will be four art-making days, and NEW FOR THIS YEAR: The En Plein Air Art Show and Sale in August.

There is NO CHARGE to participate as an En Plein Air Artist or to visit the Coutts Centre. Bring friends and family or just your introverted self. The Centre is open to inspire all, as per Jim Coutts’ vision.

Visitors and artists are welcome to bring their own lunches and dine in the garden or the pavilion. The ULethbridge Art Gallery will be on-site providing basic drawing supplies and tools. Bottled water will be available in the Chicken House, along with self-serve coffee and tea at no charge.

COUTTS CENTRE: EN PLEIN AIR 2023 SCHEDULE – (All dates are Sundays) – open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.*
*some artists arrive earlier, some stay later – but these are the hours that will be staffed, with open public washroom access.

May 14: Blossoms and Bees, with live music in the Pavilion – and Mother’s Day Brunch

Gates open at 11 am
BBQ served noon and 1 pm seatings
$25 Adults
$22 Seniors
$15 Kids 5-15 (under 5 are free)
Includes meal and art programming

Featuring Jane Allan hosting a musical tribute to Ian Tyson with local musicians Leanne Lightfoot and Jim and Lynda McLennan.

July 16 – Coutts Centre Arts Festival – Filmmaker Cheryl Foggo, Calgary Animated Objects Puppet Show and Mask Making, Lethbridge Shakespeare Society presents The Taming of the Shrew, walking tours and salad buffet. (the poppies will be epic!)

August 20 – En Plein Air Art Show & Salein the pavilion, picnic lunch and live music by John Hewitt
(more details about the Art Show and Sale will be available in future emails, at En Plein Air days, and on the Coutts Centre website)

All four En Plein Air dates feature an optional Sunday meal, catered by Soul Sugar Catering (Okotoks) and served out of the North Barn, next to the bandstand. Brunches are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and $15 for 15 and under (free for under five-year-olds). To book brunch tickets: https://couttscentre.ca/events/.
