Join our Featured Artist April Matisz as she provides a glazing demonstration.

April Matisz was born and raised in southern Alberta, Canada. Her interest in art and nature began at an early age, fostered by camping trips with her father and watercolouring with her mother. She pursued a B.Sc. in biology from the University of Victoria and then a BFA in art studio from the University of Lethbridge.

Her practice spans drawing, printmaking, and painting. Her work draws on her knowledge of the sciences, ecology, landscape, and phenomenology. She also investigates aspects of Motherhood: the history, myths, residues, and labours. She also explores the influence of the environment on the self, and the intersections of biology and culture.

April will be at AAC Works glazing her little clay birds so be sure to mark it on your calendars!
