It doesn’t seem like the holidays have arrived without hearing Handel’s Messiah. This beloved oratorio has become one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music, especially at Christmas time. In the mid-1730s, students were so enamoured of Handel’s music, especially his oratorios, that some of them sold their furniture to pay for their five-shilling tickets. Don’t run out and sell your couch yet – you’ll need it to sit and daydream on it after this incredible performance with the Lethbridge Symphony and Vox Musica.
