Workshop Highlights

Expert Instruction by Dawn Candy

Dawn Candy is celebrated for her unique approach to ceramics, combining traditional techniques with contemporary aesthetics. With years of experience and a distinct artistic vision, she will guide you through the intricacies of wheel throwing and surface design.

Hands-On Learning

This workshop is designed to be highly interactive, providing you with the opportunity to dive deep into the world of pottery. You will engage in hands-on activities that cover the full spectrum of pottery creation, from forming your pieces on the wheel to applying intricate surface designs.

Layering Various Surface Design Techniques

Explore and master a variety of surface design techniques under Dawn’s expert guidance. Techniques may include:

– Sgraffito: Scratch designs into a layer of colored slip to reveal the clay body beneath.

– Slip Trailing: Applying slip in a controlled manner to create raised designs.

– Underglazing: Adding color and design directly onto the clay surface before glazing.

Creating Rich, Personal Imagery

Learn how to infuse your pottery with personal meaning and storytelling. Dawn will teach you how to incorporate your own imagery and symbolism into your work, resulting in pieces that are not only beautiful but also deeply personal and unique.

Networking and Community

Connect with fellow pottery enthusiasts and build a network of like-minded individuals. Share ideas, gain inspiration, and foster a supportive community of artists.

*Note: This workshop does not include any kiln firing.
