AWCS is in Lethbridge! Join us the Writers’ Unplugged – An Open Mic Night.
We launched on October 26 and are running on the last Thursday of the month thereafter. Share your words while surrounded by walls of books, in front of the friendliest audience you’ll ever meet.
It’s easy. Show up with a max of 5 minutes of material to share. Throw your name into the hat. Readers are drawn at random.
Poetry, fiction, non-fiction, songs, dramatic monologues…anything goes.
Maybe you’re not ready to read in front of people and just want to enjoy the show. Be a part of our live studio audience, cheer on our writers.

MANDATE
The Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society aims to create a safe space where all storytellers are welcome. We provide a relaxed, friendly and encouraging environment where writers of all ages and abilities can practice their craft and sharing share the joys and difficulties of the writing experience. We support writers’ development through a variety of classes, programs, and events, creating and reshaping offerings to meet the needs and interests of our members.
The Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society is a fiscally responsible charity committed to building a community for all writers.
Analog Books, “a unique spot for books and thoughts”, opened in Lethbridge toward the end of 2020 and has already been awarded Best New Business in Lethbridge. Co-owner Scott Warris filled us in on the welcome that they (co-owner Penny, Kim (staff), Scott and their daughter Willow) have received in their new home, the distinct look of the shop, their vision for the future of the store, and their very popular store cat, Hugo.
