Join artists Paul Maheke, Lan “Florence” Yee, and katie marie bruce for talks and tours of our new exhibitions In spite of my own desire to see you disappear, Do weeds still grow in Heaven? and Tandem Inadequacies.
The Articulations Art Lecture Series offers presentations from contemporary practicing artists and arts professionals. Local and international artists, curators, critics, art historians, theorists, and filmmakers share their practice and engage with the audience in open, critical discussion.
Paul Maheke is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Montpellier. Maheke’s work has been shown in solo presentations at Mostyn, Wales (2024); Kunsthalle Bratislava, Slovakia (2023); High Line Art, New York (2022), The Renaissance Society, Chicago (2021); Collection Pinault, Paris (2021); and Chisenhale Gallery, London (2019). He has participated in group exhibitions and festivals at institutions including Tate Modern, London (2024); Rudolfinum, Prague (2023); ICA Miami (2019); and Centre Pompidou, Paris (2018). He has been featured in major international exhibitions including Biennale du Congo (2022); Glasgow International, Scotland (2021); 58th Venice Biennale (2019); Performa, New York (2019); Baltic Triennial 13, Estonia (2018); and Manifesta 12, Italy (2018).
Lan “Florence” Yee is a visual artist and cultural worker based in Tkaronto/Toronto &
Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. They collect text in underappreciated places and
ferment it until it is too suspicious to ignore. Lan’s work has been exhibited at the Textile Museum of Canada (2023-24), Darling Foundry (2022), the Toronto Museum of
Contemporary Art (2021), and the Gardiner Museum (2019), among others. They
obtained a BFA from Concordia University and an MFA from OCAD U as a Joseph-
Armand Bombardier SSHRC scholar. They are a recipient of the William and Meredith
Saunderson Prizes for Emerging Artists (2023). Lan is a member of JIA Foundation as
curator of the Chinatown House MTL..

katie marie bruce (she/her) is an artist and printmaker, living and making work on Treaty 7 Territory in Sikóóhkotok, also known as Lethbridge, Alberta. She received an MFA from York University in 2015, where her thesis work was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. While her practice is rooted in print media —actively invested in considering multiplicity as both motivation and manner of interrogation— the work is expansive and interdisciplinary in its articulations. Her practice has been supported by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and presented in solo, two-person, and group exhibitions nationally and internationally. katie is currently an instructor at the University of Lethbridge in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Art Department.
