Arts Days
Lethbridge Arts Days is an annual celebration of the arts in Lethbridge held in conjunction with provincial and national Culture Days. The Allied Arts Council works with AAC members and member organizations to support and celebrate a variety of events throughout the City of Lethbridge.
Arts Days Lethbridge 2024 events take place between September 5 – 28 during Alberta’s Month of the Artist!

DOWNTOWN LENS & SOUNDS:
September 5 – 21 + 22
Downtown Lens is an annual mural project facilitated by the Allied Arts Council (AAC).
From September 5-7, artists will paint a design on the window of a downtown business. These ephemeral murals will remain on windows until September 21.
Downtown Sounds is an annual busking project that coincides with Downtown Lens. Street performers may be found at mural sites during the project and throughout September. Explore the downtown and what our local talent offers during the Month of the Artist!
AiR GABRIELLE HOULE PERFORMANCE:
Saturday, September 7, 6:00 – 7:00pm
Join Artist in Residence Gabrielle Houle for a performance in the Casa Community Room on Saturday, September 7 at 6pm. Afterwards, stay for the Gallery Opening Reception starting at 7pm!

PEOPLE IN THE WINDOW CELEBRATION:
Friday, September 13, 8:00 – 10:00pm
Join us on Rotary Square at Casa, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of David Hoffos’s artwork “People in the Window.” This inconspicuous piece of public art often goes unnoticed, yet the impact of the artwork has been felt by many who have reveled and marveled in it’s genius. Come out to celebrate the artist and People int he Window, enjoy live music by ADEQUATE, grab a drink from the AAC bar, and a pizza from Art & Craft Pizza. Experience a temporary, site-specific intervention from Hoffos called BILOCATION and ask yourself: “Which is the one who watches?”
AiR JULIA FORREST ARTIST TALK & OPEN HOUSE:

Join us in the Casa Community Room to hear about Artist in Residence Julia Forrest’s art practice, and what she has been working on during her residency at Casa! Afterwards, join Julia Forrest out on our Rotary Square where she will be hosting an Open House in the kiosk.
BIG BAND BOP:
Saturday, September 21, 8:00 – 10:00pm
The name says it all! Come out and bring the family! Bop along to Lethbridge Big Band, while you learn to dance from the talented folks at Swing Bridge Dance Community! Join in on our famous 1 lb clay challenge, led by 3D Studio manager and artist, Aaron Hagan! Appreciate the works of Julia Forrest, a Brooklyn-based artist who works in film and darkroom prints and will be showing from the art kiosks on Rotary Square. Watch artists draw live and project them on the building. Enjoy a snack from Beau’s Barria & Taqueria Food truck and a cold drink from the bar. You don’t want to miss it!
ORANGE SHIRT DAY + HIBIKIYA TAIKO DRUMMING:
Sunday, September 22, 1:00 – 5:00pm
Join us in the Casa Community Room from 1-4pm and design your own orange shirt while listening to storytellers! Screenprint your shirt with a design by artist Kylie Fineday, then customize it using stencils and fabric paint. Free, drop-in, family-friendly art activity. Tea and snacks provided. Shirts are for children and youth, guardians are encouraged to participate. Storytelling with Debbie and Evelyn Crow Shoe Kelman at 2:30pm. Materials provided.
Afterwards, join us on Casa’s Rotary Square for HIBIKIYA – Taiko Drumming Performance from 4-5pm!
