“The title of my exhibition is “Migrating Edges” . This refers to my actual painting process with all the scraping back, drawing on, rearranging and changing that goes on during the process of painting. Edges meet change, meet move and rearrange themselves on the painting. The geometry of nature and its forms also evolve, shift move and change, nothing stays in the same place and all exists only in the moment we perceive it – a geometry with no definitive edge or end that we can see. Its centre is everywhere and nowhere.
This concept addresses the deeper more personal search for the edges and boundaries of memory, especially memory of place and past experience as it is excavated through my artistic practise. Memory is mutable and its interesting to me how I see and feel in a place that I lived and worked many years ago. Bound to abstraction my work is an exploration of nature and my place in it. Working and living in the mountains brings me face to face with nature, fragility and interdependence of life.”
