“In this body of work “The Long Road”, I continue to push my mark making.  I have done a series of pieces on wood panel sketching in turps, then painting in with brayers, oil pastels, scraffitto and the classic approaches to oil painting.  I want some sense of realism, but works of art that glorify paint and the act of painting.  I want to have fun.  I wanted them to still feel plein-air – sketch-like.  These pieces seem to balance my larger studio works that are more grand, fine-tuned, and planned.”
