The Lethbridge Branch of the Alberta Registered Music Teachers’ Association was formed in 1942, and is part of a Canada-wide federation of music teachers encompassing 10 provinces and the Yukon, with approximately 3,500 members. This showcase display features different aspects of the organization and demonstrates our commitment to the aim of our association – to provide leadership in private music education in our community by encouraging and offering the highest calibre of music education possible and promoting high standards of music in our community.
Currently, the Lethbridge Branch has 22 members from Lethbridge and the surrounding area who give lessons in piano, theory, pedagogy, strings, voice, woodwinds, organ, trombone, tuba, euphonium, and ear training. The Branch presents a number of student recitals each year, and organizes workshops and master classes for students and teachers in the Lethbridge area. In addition, it presents $1,500 in annual awards for first-class honors marks in practical and theory exams, and sponsors a number of Lethbridge and District Music and Speech Arts Festival awards. There are monthly meetings at which the group organizes events, shares ideas and supports one another in their teaching efforts. Visit lrmta.com for more information.
