Lethbridge’s summer classical music festival, Centric MusicFest will feature international guitar sensation, Iliana Matos; Juno award-winning violinist and concertmaster of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Andrew Wan; and Lethbridge and Alberta originating musicians trio “Opus 3” (violinist Aidrie Robinson, cellist Christine Bootland, and pianist John-Paul Ksiazek), mezzo-soprano Camille Rogers, pianist Perri Lo, and artistic director, Ryan Kolodziej.
Andrew Wan is currently the concertmaster/first violinist of the Montreal Symphony Orchesta, is a professor of violin at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University, and member of the Juno and Opus Award-winning New Orford Quartet. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, he is also Artistic Partner of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Wan has been a soloist with major symphonies throughout North America and has performed throughout the world with artists such as the Juilliard Quartet, Daniil Trifonov, Vadim Repin, Emanuel Ax, Gil Shaham, Marc-André Hamelin, Jörg Widmann, Menaham Pressler, and Cho-Liang Lin.
Mr. Wan will present Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances and the sublime Sonata in A major for Violin and Piano, Op. 100 by Brahms. Crowning this concert is Franck’s transcendent Sonata for Violin and Piano in A major.
Mr. Wan will be collaborating with pianist and Centric Festival Artistic Director, Ryan Kolodziej for the concert and for a casual pre-concert discussion at 6:30 pm.
