Concert I on June 19, 7:30 pm at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church will feature Charles Richard-Hamelin, the outstanding Canadian pianist who has been launched into the international music scene since his successful prize winning performances at the Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Montreal International Music Competition, and the Seoul International Music Competition. We are lucky to have Charles perform in Lethbridge in one of only two Alberta concerts this summer! He will perform works by Chopin, Debussy, Enescu, Mendelssohn, and Rachmaninov.
Concert II on June 20, 7:30 pm at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church features Trio de Moda and pianist Alison Kilgannon. Trio de Moda is comprised of talented members of Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra: violinist Neda Yamach, violist Clayton Leung and cellist Kathleen de Caen. This prolific group of musicians have been mentored by an impressive list of outstanding chamber music ensembles: the Lafayette, Cavani, Cleveland, Juilliard, Tokyo and American String Quartets and well-known musicians Itzak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, Lorin Maazel, William Preucil, Henk Guittart, Barry Shiffman and Thomas Rolston.
Prize winner of numerous competitions, Canadian pianist Alison Kilgannonhas performed in North America as well as in Spain, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, and Ecuador. They will perform works by Schubert, Beethoven, and Schumann.
Concert III on June 21, 7:30 pm at Casa will showcase local favourites the jamani duo: the dynamic musical partnership of Jodi Groenheide (flute and percussion) and Matt Groenheide (percussion). Together, they play an exciting variety of music from around the world with a combined total of over 50 different instruments, of which concert-goers can expect a sampling at their concert entitled Dance of the Drums.
Concert IV on June 22, 7:30 pm at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church welcomes back homegrown musicians soprano Madison Craig and pianist Zain Solinski. Both musicians completed their Bachelor of Music at the University of Lethbridge. Madison recently completed a Master of Music in Opera from UBC, and Zain is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano with Dr. John Hess at Western University. They will perform a program that celebrates the female muse for artistic inspiration and the reclamation of the poetry by the female voice, featuring works by Purcell, Messiaen, Strauss, Szymanowski, and Previn.
Closing the festival, Concert V on June 23, 2:30 pm at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church will feature a majority of Centric MusicFest’s 2019 artists in a collaborative and assorted program of individually chosen selections by the musicians.
