Call for Submissions
Inside-Out: Casa Summer Exhibition

Submission Deadlines:
Shadowboxes: May 22, 2021
Deadline passed
Artist Kiosks: May 29, 2021
Summer Salon: June 11, 2021

The Gallery at Casa is calling for submissions for our summer exhibition Inside-Out. We are creating an exhibition program that will be featured in Rotary Square, the exterior plaza on the east side of the building, and spaced throughout the building as AHS rules allow. This will also allow for safe, physical distancing to experience the art. The exhibition will run from July 3 to August 31.

There are multiple ways to participate; take part in our shadow box project (deadline has passed), submit an idea for an installation in the Artist Kiosks or submit a 2D work for inclusion in our Summer Salon. Please feel free to submit to all opportunities by following the Submission Guidelines.

Artist Kiosks:

The Gallery at Casa is seeking 2 artists to create installations or displays in our two Artist Kiosks. The Kiosks are repurposed sea-cans measuring 8’ X 10’ that are equipped with slat walls, lighting tracks, power outlets, and solid surface flooring. They will be open during the day and locked in the evening. Each artist selected will be paid an honorarium of $500.

Submission Guidelines: To be considered for the project, please send a simple proposal consisting of a brief bio, examples of past work, and a brief letter outlining your idea. Proposals should be sent via email to gallery@artslethbridge.org. Please use “Inside-Out Kiosks” as the subject line. Please email your submission by May 29.

Summer Salon:

While originally planning to have our Summer Salon in the Casa windows due to covid restrictions, recent health announcements allow for moving the exhibition inside Casa including the Main Gallery space and Auxilliary Gallery spaces. This un-juried and thematically neutral exhibition will run through July and August.

The Summer Salon will be accepting pieces from all artists who want to participate. All work, provided it is sensitive to a broad range of audiences, will be welcome in this celebratory exhibition. We will be accepting recent work in all visual arts media from Lethbridge artists, including 2D work, sculpture, and installation. The show will be hung salon-style throughout all of the display spaces in the facility, and we will accommodate as many works as possible. There will be a nominal honorarium for participants. The exhibition will run from July 3 – August 21, 2021.

Submission Guidelines: If you are interested in participating in the Summer Salon, email an image of the work you would like to submit. We will be accepting one work from individuals, and please indicate if your single work has multiple elements. As well, you must provide a brief bio and an artist’s statement of a few lines.   All artists who send their submissions will be forwarded logistical details about drop-off times and procedures. The deadline for submissions is June 11 at 5pm. We will accept as much work as we can on a first-come basis, but due to space constraints, we may have a limit.  Early submissions are encouraged. Please use “Summer Salon” in the subject line and send submissions to: gallery@artslethbridge.org

If you have any questions or concerns, please email gallery@artslethbridge.org
